Hurricane Kristy has intensified to category 2, reported the National Water Commission (Conagua). It is expected to reach category 3 and possibly category 4 in the coming hours, although it is predicted to move away from Mexico. By Sunday, it is expected to downgrade to a tropical storm and on Monday to a post-tropical cyclone.
Regarding the weather in Mexico City for Wednesday, October 23, partly cloudy skies are forecast with a possibility of fog in high areas, with a cool atmosphere in the morning. Subsequently, temperate weather is expected with overcast skies and a probability of isolated rains and showers. Temperatures will range between 11 and 24 degrees Celsius.
Kristy is located 960 kilometers south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, moving west at 31 km/h, with sustained winds of 155 km/h and gusts of 195 km/h. It is expected to generate rainfall in several parts of Mexico, mainly in the eastern and southeastern regions of the country.
Additionally, due to low-pressure channels in different regions of Mexico, combined with atmospheric instability and humidity from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, rains and showers are forecast in several areas of Mexican territory, including the center and the Yucatán Peninsula. Heavy rains are anticipated in Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco.
